Why Creating an Online Product is So Hard and How You Can Make it a Simple Task

So why is creating an online product seem so hard?


Is creating a online product as hard as we imagine it to be?

What are you really doing when you create a product anyway?

Is it any different than any other content you’re currently putting out there.

To a degree yes?

But the execution is the same.

Think about it.

The content you share for free is done in the same manner as you would if it was paid.

The only difference is that you are doing something a bit more advanced or detailed.

That’s the only difference.

In some cases, it may not even be more advanced. It may just be information that they haven’t been privy to before. But they want it.

They ask for it and you just give them that content for a cost.

  • This could be an ebook.
  • A single video.
  • A video series.
  • An single audio.
  • An audio series.
  • An email course.
  • A single interview with another expert.
  • A interview series with several experts.
  • A paid webinar.
  • A paid livestream.
  • A physical product.

The medium is the same.
The way, in which it is executed, is still the same.

So why is it so difficult?

It shouldn’t be right?

What gets in your mind is that it will fail.
And it might. This is true.

It could generate some revenue though. This is also true.

Of course the latter is what you hope for but it’s never certain. As we’ve discussed, no one can predict the future. So…

Just put out some content and add a price tag to it.

What do you have to lose?

If it fails then you’re not out too much. Just a few hours or less of your time. And that depends on the product you put out there. It may just take an hour of work.

How hard is it to interview someone to dig out some valuable content?

Even if it’s just you putting this together, it’s shouldn’t be difficult for you.

All you have to do is share content like you’ve always have.

  • If you can write a blog post, you can write a short ebook.
  • If you can shoot a video on your phone or camera, you can create one for a paid offer.
  • If you talk to a friend about what they do for a living, you can do an interview for a paid offer.

Just share like you’ve always shared.

Have a normal conversation like you’ve always had.

Now this seems so simple. I know I’m making it look like it’s nothing.

But there is some form involved.

You could use an outline.

Like start with an intro.

And end with an outro.

It has to get your user from a to b. It can’t be something without some structure. You have to take them from where they are to where they want to be. The result is everything.

It’s also good to not assume that your customer knows things to a certain point. So start them from the very beginning.

For instance…

If someone wants to build a website using WordPress.

You have to start from the point of the domain name and the hosting company first.

Nothing happens with WordPress without a domain name and hosting.

Then you take them step by step till they can see the light at the end of that tunnel.

And if you say that’s a lot of work. It is at first. But get this…

It is just once. All at once…but just once.

One time and you’re done.

Think about that for a second. This is the one thing you can actually do just once in your lifetime. It’s not something you have to trudge on for constantly.

This should be a relief for you.

Because everything else you do online has to be done continuously.

Isn’t this awesome!

So this is why I say to go ahead and put together as many products as possible then drop that price tag.

Even it fails, you have the material to bundle with something else in the future.

It’s a way to say that your efforts will not be in vain. You’re gonna use that content to help you make some money eventually!

Trust me on that one!

So get to it.

Go through the content you already have and repurpose those gems. You may even find a big seller. That one product is the one caveat where you might update to make it even better.

I’ve seen so many people create products and swear their product was not ready for public consumption. But it turned out to be a big hit!

And you might just bes missing that one extra section that could turn your product from good to great! By no means do I just want you to put out junk.

So when I say put it out there, I mean make sure it’s quality stuff. I’m gonna believe that you have that handled.

If not, then we’ll save that lesson for another day.

But for now, share the content you usually share with the only difference being in the small, quality details.

Oh and uh…that price tag. Drop that on em too!
